Sometimes, the busy everyday life can take up all your attention, leaving you with annoyingly little time for exercise.

Especially after a long day, your feet can feel heavy and restless.

Fortunately, there are a few simple ways you can ease the pain without having to leave the house.

You might be surprised how small steps can make a big difference!

From Couch to Fitness Centre: 15 Minute Power Workout

You can combine relaxation with an effective workout right on your own sofa.

Put your favourite TV show on in the background and take a moment to yourself - here's a power workout to get your blood flowing and your mind refreshed:

Stretch and activate circulation (3 min): Start by lifting your legs alternately. Keep each lift in the air for about 5 seconds. This helps to awaken the circulation in the legs and prepare for the movements to come.

Ankle rotation (3 min): Sit firmly and rotate your ankles in both directions as far as you can. This relieves ankle stiffness and promotes joint mobility.

Toe flexion and extension (3 min): Flex and extend your toes. This movement strengthens the muscles of the sole of the foot and helps to prevent bunions.

Stretch the calves (3 min): take support from the edges of the sofa with your hands and stretch the calves by lifting your heels off the floor. Hold each stretch for a few seconds.

Rest and relaxation (3 min): finish with a calm breathing exercise. Deep breathing helps to relax your muscles and your mind.

Compression: relaxation without movement

Sometimes the body just needs to relax without physical effort.

When that happens the compression socks can be a valuable aid.

Not only do they support your feet, but they also improve circulation even while sitting and relaxing, which is vital for the well-being of your feet.

Compression socks offer the same benefits as active exercise, but without the movement that can be very painful with conditions like plantar fasciitis or neuropathy.

Wear them in the evening to relax or wear them constantly throughout the day - the more the merrier.

Find your own way

By trying different methods - from active couch workouts to passive compression - you can find the best way to maintain the health and well-being of your feet.
